"Purple Pitcher"

2 in × 2.5 in × 7 in , Stoneware & Glaze , 2023

My original idea started off just being a plain simple purple vase for my grandma, then it evolved into a more detailed piece. It started out with me deciding to roll out a design before I started working. Then I formed the cylinder shape around the bottom I had made. At this moment I realized that the back where the cylinder connected looked pretty rough so I made little spheres and put them all up the side. I decided to carry out this theme and put spheres on the top of the vase as well. I did this part entirely with my hand and I then did two layers of glaze in the color smoked merlot with a medium-sized paintbrush so I could get in all the divots. I pictured the vase being used for flowers but depending on the person they could just put whatever they want. The most difficult thing for me was getting the back of the vase where the cylinder connects to look good enough and smooth enough to put the spheres on it. I overcame this by more shaping and even sanding down helped after the first time in the kiln. If I could start over again I would make sure my vase is even on both sides and not so lop-sided. I would say this is on the more abstract side because of the patterns. I feel that just because I made it makes it mine because I just shape differently than others. I love the color of the glaze and how it turned out as a whole.

" Chip & Dip Bowl"

Chip: 10 × 5 × 2 Dip: 5 × 3 × 1, Stoneware & Glaze, 2023

My original idea was to make a triangle chip bowl and a triangle dip bowl and as you can see that didn't quite work out how I wanted it to. I Ended up with a circular chip bowl and a triangle dip bowl. I first started with the dip bowl because it was smaller and easier to complete and then I moved on to the chip bowl. The chip bowl took me forever because the clay was so soft then the triangle shape didn't hold. So this led me to seek help from Mrs. Dunlvaeys help and we decided a circular bowl was easier because I was running out of time. I used again my hands to create this work but I also used a circular foam slump/drape ring. I used a big paintbrush to glaze both of these bowls. I wanted to pick and bring happy colors like the ones you would see at a Mexican restaurant but again it didn't quite turn out how I wanted. The most difficult part of this project was the chip bowl for some reason I really just struggled with it. I overcame this by changing my idea so I could complete the project. If I could start over I would try to make both either circular or triangle shape and I would also glaze it different colors like  royal blue and red. I would call this realistic because you could use this as an actual chip and dip bowl. My favorite part of this project was my triangle bowl I love how it turned out,

"Wheel Pots"

I worked for several days on the wheel to create these two pieces through lots of trial and error I finally came out with these two bowls.  Through all the trial and error I learned lots of different lessons like how you cone up and down to center your clay before you get going. I have also learned that if you do not do this many things can go wrong such as your piece can become lop-sided, can cave, and can even fling off the wheel. In the end, after many redo's, I finally finished both of these bowls which can be used for a variety of things such as jewelry or even maybe food.

Remi & Addie

Remi and I created this stop motion off of the song " After the Storm" from Tyler the Creator and Kali Uchis. Our idea was originally to make a storm scene then the flower blooms. When the flower blooms there was supposed to be a huge rainbow at the end to tie it all together. In the end, we did almost everything according to plan but we just fell short on time to create the rainbow at the end.
