Physical and Occupational Therapy

School-based Occupational Therapy is a related service available to students with disabilities who qualify. Occupational therapy helps students with disabilities participate fully in their educational program by addressing needs in fine motor skills, sensory issues, visual-perceptual/visual-motor problems, and feeding issues, if appropriate. The occupational therapist may provide direct services to students individually or in groups, and often provides ongoing consultation services with special education and classroom teachers. Through consultation, the OT can Make suggestions on fine motor and sensory activities, supports, and modifications that can be carried out in the school and classroom environment on a daily basis. If your child has a disability and you believe that he or she may be in need of occupational therapy, please address this need with your child's IEP team, or contact the Supervisor of Exceptional Learners at 629-201-4801, extension 10110, or julie.vincent@ccstn.net.
