ELA 9
English 9 is a continuation of middle school reading and writing strategies. There will be an overarching theme of identity, in which students will start to understand and develop their own identity through the exploration of literature, discussion, and perspective. Students are expected to incorporate voice, development, and maturity in writing style and technique within their written tasks and research. Students will be challenged to think more in depth in regards to literature, information text, and poetry. They will look at specific literary elements and be able to identify and elaborate at how they are shown and used in literary work. Students are expected to annotate and be active readers by taking notes and observing several elements that appear in literature and explain their importance or relevance to the meaning of the text.
