Meet Our Principal

Hello families,

My name is Bertine Bahige. I am originally from the Democratic Republic of Congo ( ex -  Zaire) in Africa. I have lived in Gillette for more than a decade now and proudly claim Wyoming as home! I am a proud father of three and a husband and a multilingual speaker. My wife is also an educator - has taught both kindergarten and 1st grade for over a decade too. We are proud University of Wyoming (Go Pokes!) graduates.  I graduated from the University of Wyoming with a Bachelor Degree in Mathematics and Mathematics Education (The World Needs More Cowboys!) have been featured in the University of Wyoming campaign about the World Needs More Cowboys!. Right after that, I had an opportunity to teach mathematics at Campbell County High School for 10 years. I earned my master degree in Educational Leadership from South Dakota State University and am currently working on my Doctoral program in Educational Leadership through the University of Wyoming. I am honored to be the Principal of Stocktrail Elementary school where our focus is to ensure that ALL students succeed. We are blessed with the best staff that is committed to helping every child grow academically, socially and emotionally. I believe in Data Driven instruction and our team is committed to ensure that our decisions are based on just that. As the sole Dual Immersion elementary school in the district, we will  prioritize building relationships with families and create a sense of community while enhancing our students’ language acquisition. Our goal is to make this The Best Place for your child to be every single day! Due to the fact that we have students coming from all over the district, we have made creating a sense of a community another priority in our building. We welcome parental and community involvement and appreciate your help throughout the school year. Your ideas and support are an integral part of our school's success. Our school is blessed with an amazing teaching staff and support staff dedicated to your child's learning. We encourage communication regarding your child's progress and recommend frequent communication with teachers and the administration. Student growth and learning are priorities, and we are excited to be a part of your child’s academic journey.
