A Dual Language Learner in the 21st Century TRUE TECHNOLOGY INTEGRATION

DLI programs offer students a unique way to learn two languages and other academic content at an age when their brains are more flexible to learning.

• Start at the beginning of school (Kindergarten)

• Progress throughout the school years with the same classmates.

• Spend 50% of day learning in English and the other 50% learning in Spanish.

• Students typically are fluent in the second language by the end of elementary school.

Brain research and outcomes of DLI programs have shown students have many advantages:

• Plasticity in young brains makes language learning very easy.

• Dual language students have better test scores and typically develop higher IQs.

• Dual language students learn subsequent languages more easily.

• Transferring knowledge in all contents is not affected by learning other languages.
