The financial sector is a complex functioning system where the value of the currency, interest rates, and inflation all determine the strength of the financial system. The flow of money, through its currency, is what keeps the economy strong. The adjustment of rates to deal with inflation and changing prices and economic conditions is important to maintaining strength. On top of rates, the amount of M1 in the system can determine the level of growth compared to possible inflation issues you may see in the future. The Federal Reserve system must determine where interest rates and the level of M1 should be based on economic needs while weighing political requests from those who positioned them.
