Attendance: Since regular attendance and punctuality are factors contributing to desirable achievement, you are urged to make every effort to have your child arrive promptly to school each day and to be in attendance daily except in cases of legal absence. Students returning to school after an absence should bring a note signed by a parent/guardian indicating the reason for the absence. Students will be marked late if they arrive after 8:30 am. If a student is going to be absent, please contact your student's teacher, as well as the office to inform them of the absence.
Birthdays: We celebrate all student birthdays! We celebrate with extra recess, presenting the birthday student with a crown, and singing at snack time! We also invite a "parent reader" to come in and read one of your child's favorite books. If a parent is unable to come in, please reach out to your child's teacher for alternative option. Due to district policies, we are UNABLE to allow food for any birthday celebration.
Conferences: Parent-Teacher conferences are scheduled twice a year. Once in the winter and once in the spring. However, we encourage parents to reach out and schedule additional conferences if desired.
Dismissal Changes: If for any reason your child's typical dismissal needs to change, temporary or permanently, please inform your child's teacher and the office staff as soon as you can. This includes but is not limited to staying after school for an after school activity, being picked up as a walker/car rider when they typically take a bus, taking the bus when they are typically a walker/car rider, going home with a friend, etc.
Extra Help: Teachers offer extra help twice a week. Please contact your child's teacher for their extra help schedule.
Field Trips: We love going on field trips! Please stay tuned for more information regarding this topic.
Gym: On gym days, please make sure your child wears sneakers.
Homework: Homework is given to assist children with practicing and further developing skills. Stay tuned for more information regarding this topic.
Invitations: If you would like us to pass out birthday invitations in school, you must either invite the entire class or all the boys/all the girls.

Lunch: Students can either bring a lunch from home or get one of the cafeteria's lunch options. If your child is buying snacks, you can send in money or apply it to their lunch account via myschoolbucks.com. You can check the monthly menu on the district website.

Parties vs Learning Celebrations: Currently we can only allow our 2 class parents to attend class parties. However, all parents will be invited in for learning celebrations. There will be multiple class parties and learning celebrations throughout the year, so please stay tuned for more info!

Responsibility: We encourage students to build responsibility and independence. You can help foster this too by encouraging them to assist in packing their backpack, making sure they do their homework, picking out clothes, etc.
Snack: Please send your child in with a healthy, nut-free snack daily, that can be eaten within 10 minutes independently. Consider pre-tearing packaging and don't forget any utensils, please!
Toys: For educational and safety reasons, students should not bring toys, including electronic games, to school. Toys resembling weapons will be confiscated. For special occasions or events, teachers may permit stuffed animals or favorite games. You will be notified of this.
Updates: Please check the website's main page to view the calendar for upcoming events. Please also check your emails reguarly as we will send most of our communication through that.
Visitors: Visitors will be by appointment only at this time. If a visitor does not have an appointment, they should ring the bell and we will assist them outside in front of the entrance. Visitors should always carry their driver’s license in the event ID needs to be checked.
Water: Please send students in with a refillable, stainless steel water bottle. The school is equipped with a water filling station, so they can refill their water if necessary.
"X"tra Attention: Please do not hesitate if there is something taking place in your child's life that is not in the ordinary routine, such as a death in the family, a pet running away, a parent gone on a business trip, etc. We do not need to know specific details, but it is very helpful to know if a child needs a little extra attention and an understanding ear.
