More activities to try at home:
● Practice Sight Words
Options:
- Play Coin Toss- Lay the snap words on the floor. Toss a coin on a word & read it.
- Use sidewalk chalk to write your snap words on your driveway.
- Flashlight words-tape your words on your closet door, and turn out the lights. Then shine a light on a word, and read it.
- Make words using magnetic letters or Scrabble pieces
- Delicious Words -Create your words using any type of food
- Good Clean Words-Write your words in shaving cream
- Concentration-Make a duplicate set of snap word cards and play “Concentration”
- Go Fish-With a duplicate set of snap word cards play “Go Fish”
- SNAPO- This is played just like Bingo. Fill in a card with snap words. Call out the words and mark the spaces. The first one with a card filled calls out “SNAPO”
● Practice Math facts and skills
Options:
- use dice and playing cards for help with greater than/less than, addition & subtraction & place value
- Flashcards
● Practice Phonics & Writing Skills
Options:
- Have a family member dictate a sentence using snap words. Write the sentence neatly with correct spelling & punctuation.
- Keep a family journal and take turns writing short messages and pictures! Be on the lookout for correct handwriting, spelling & punctuation! Anyone can participate!
