CCHS Families,
We hope you are enjoying the summer, finding time to relax, and spending some quality family time together! Work has not stopped at the High School- freshman orientation, summer school, curriculum work, and schedule building are all taking place right now.
Please remember that as students prepare to come back to school in a month, each September provides an opportunity for a fresh start. If the school year didn't go as planned last year, students can learn from their mistakes and ask for the help necessary to improve. If your student had tremendous success, there are always areas in which they can choose to push themselves to be better. A new year also means new opportunities for students to get involved. With the multitude of clubs, activites, and sports offered here at the High School, we have Chargers that come in every shape and size. It is important to us that our students walk out of our building as better people, not just scholars.
I am honored to be your new principal, and look forward to a great school year! Below you can find the link to my introduction letter in this new role.
The counselors, teachers, and administrators of the building are dedicating themselves to planning for a successful year. Clerical and buildings/grounds staffs are also working hard by completing the behind the scenes work that makes Cheektowaga Central a special place.
Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns you may have about your student and their education. It is through a partnership between you and the school that your student will become as successful as possible. Together, we will make 2025-2026 a great school year!
Thank you,
Josh Strzelec
Principal
This is to serve as a reminder about the law passed by Governor Hochul, banning internet-enabled devices (such as smartphones, smart watches, and tablets) during the school day. While we already prohibit the use of cell phones during academic classes, the new law expands the restriction to include hallways, study halls, and the cafeteria. From the start of first period, until the end of last period, phones will be stored in student lockers. If you look below, you can see the cell phone policy and the consequences for students having/using them during the school day. As discussed at Mr. Zipp's cell phone town hall meeting, families will have the ability to reach their student by calling the main office, or their student requesting to use a school phone to call home. While this may be difficult for students at first, it will lead to reduced distractions, promote student well-being, and support a focused learning environment. Thank you in advance for your support and partnership in the success of the students.
