All CCS Year 10-13 students pursue a High School Diploma. The CCS High School Diploma is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and the Council of International Schools (CIS) and is awarded upon completion of CCS graduation requirements.
There are two pathways to graduation at CCS for students in their final two years of school - the full IB Diploma Programme or IB Courses. Both pathways enable entry into tertiary education.
The choice of pathway is determined by students’ academic achievements up to and including Year 11 in which Semester 1 reports and mock examination grades will be used by teachers to check that a student’s level of achievement is in line with their subject choices. If necessary, conferences will be held with students and parents to discuss the choice of pathway and subjects.
CCS leadership in consultation with teaching staff have developed a set of recommended requirements for entry into the IB Diploma Programme @ CCS.
Also note that student progress is monitored throughout their academic journey in Years 12 and 13, and students are expected to maintain a minimum level of grades each semester to remain as an IB Diploma candidate. Read more here.
In order to undertake a subject at Standard Level (SL), it is highly recommended that students have demonstrated at least proficient achievement in the subject or a closely related subject area during their previous academic programme.
In order to undertake a subject at Higher Level (HL),, it is highly recommended that students have demonstrated a strong level of achievement and consistent academic performance in the relevant subject area.
PLEASE NOTE: For students wanting to enrol in IB DP subjects or a pathway that is not recommended / advised by CCS staff, written and signed communication of this is required.
Assessments will be given to new students prior to admission. A decision regarding DP subjects and pathway (IB Diploma or IB Courses) will be made based on a balanced and holistic view of assessment results, previous school reports and discussions between students, parents and the IB Coordinator.
