A curatorial space to track and record your learning.
A curatorial space to track and record your learning.
One of the most important components of the Language and Literature course is the Learner Portfolio.
Your Learner Portfolio will consist of a variety of formal and informal responses to the texts studied, in a range of critical and/or creative forms.
Activities undertaken in class, and which you record in your Learner Portfolio, will provide you with opportunities to undertake ongoing informal self-assessment of your understanding of the texts you read, the connections between them, and the cultural values that frame your and others' responses.
Assessment of the Learner Portfolio is both process-oriented and product-oriented.
Assessment will sometimes be teacher-led; however, your teacher will provide opportunities for informal self or peer assessment so that you can reflect on your own and each other’s learning in order to develop as a learner and student of English.
You will be expected to be consistently creating meaningful entries in your Learner Portfolio. These entries will consist of work we have completed in class (both summative and formative) as well as individual entries meant to give you the opportunity to explore links, connections and ideas in meaningful and creative ways that play to your strengths and interests.
The Learner Portfolio be continually assessed throughout the 2 year course. It will be formatively assessed at the end of Terms 1 and 3 and summatively assessed at the end of each semester. Rubrics and detailed formative feedback will be provided.
