James River Color Guard
The NJROTC Color Guard team frequently and consistently performs at local events. The Color Guards are typically made up of four cadets, with positions being American Flag, Organizational Flag, Left rifle, and Right rifle. Color Guard is one of the most influential and seen teams in the program, as we have public demonstrations at many community events.
Notable events that the Color Guard participates in are James River Graduation, Senior Convocation, National Honor Society Induction Ceremony, and home football games. Cadets that participate in the Color Guard team are committed, not only to practicing, but to perfecting their uniform and discipline.
A Culture of Excellence
The NJROTC Color Guard is a prime example of professionalism and discipline in action. Each member of the team is trained to execute their movements with precision and poise, representing their unit, school, and country with honor. From the way they stand at attention to the synchronized presentation of the colors, every motion is a reflection of their commitment to excellence. Their crisp uniforms, respectful demeanor, and attention to detail all showcase a deep sense of pride and professionalism, which not only reflects positively on the individual cadets but also on the entire NJROTC program.
Beyond professionalism, the Color Guard also demonstrates the core values of leadership, teamwork, and respect. Each member must rely on one another to perform their role flawlessly, creating a sense of unity and trust. The experience fosters personal growth and accountability, as cadets understand the importance of representing something greater than themselves. By performing at school events, community functions, and official ceremonies, the NJROTC Color Guard builds strong connections between the military and civilian communities, while teaching cadets valuable life skills that extend far beyond the drill deck.
