Considering the IB Programme?

Congratulations on your decision to consider an IB education at Midlothian High School!

Apply to IB

The steps provided below are intended for county residents, and those that are districted for Midlothian's IB Programme (Clover Hill, Cosby, James River, Monacan, Midlothian). If your family is moving into the area from another school district, please contact the IB Coordinator and Midlothian High School Counseling Department for details on how to submit transcripts, applications, and recommendations.

Step 1: Get to know us.

Learn about us by visiting informational sessions at the IB Open House & Specialty Center Fairs.

Attend one of the  Chesterfield County Specialty Fairs, that will give potential candidates an opportunity to ask questions about the program. For 2024-25, the fairs are on October 1st, at Thomas Dale High School, and October 9th at Clover Hill High School. Both fairs are from 6:30-7:30 PM.

Our IB Open House which will provide a more detailed look into IB, and a chance to speak with students, teachers, and parents in the program is October 16, 2024 from 6:30 to 8:30 PM at Midlothian High School.

Step 2: Submit your online application.

Start a CCPS Specialty Center application at http://ccpsopportunities.com

Current 8th graders will apply to Midlothian’s IB Programme and any other Specialty Centers from the same application. For our programme, you should request recommendations from two of your 7th or 8th grade teachers (from two different academic subjects). The application window is from October 1 to December 6, 2024.

Midlothian High School 9th or 10th graders interested in applying to the IB Diploma Programme should speak to Mr. Jones, IB Coordinator. The internal application process is separate from the process described above.

Step 3: Attend IB Interview Day

Attend the Interview Day at MHS (includes a group interview and a writing prompt).

All students that apply to Midlothian’s IB Programme will participate in the Interview Day where they will complete a group interview, and complete a writing prompt. The purpose is to give us additional information to help us to gain a better perspective of you as an applicant, and how you can grow as a learner, leader, and member of our community.  Specific informaiton about Interview Day will be sent to applicants after the Specialty Center application window closes.

Step 4: Receive a notification of decision.

Receive a notification of decision from the School Mint application system.

All applicants will receive notification of decision on March 1st via SchoolMint.

Step 5: Finalize your offer of admission.

Students receiving an offer of acceptance must accept or decline that offer by March 14th.
