Holocaust Memorial Assembly - Year 9
Noreen Plen, a speaker from Generation 2 Generation, a Holocaust education charity, led the Year 9 assembly for Holocaust Memorial Day. Noreen shared with Year 9 pupils the experience of her family during the Holocaust including the family history of her parents who were both Holocaust survivors. Noreen’s presentation was informative and helped pupils understand the historical context, whilst also bringing to light the importance of oral history and Holocaust remembrance.

Holocaust Memorial Day
This week on Tuesday 27th January, we observed the Memorial Day of the Holocaust. The theme this year was Bridging Generations. With fewer survivors able to share their stories personally as time passes, this theme focuses on the responsibility passing to the next generation.

6th Form Applicants Morning for our Year 11s
This week, our Sixth Form students supported Year 11 by delivering a series of student talks and a Debate Club taster session. These sessions gave pupils valuable insight into Sixth Form life and opportunities beyond GCSEs.
In addition, Year 11 pupils took part in a range of A-level taster lessons led by our Sixth Form teachers, allowing them to experience different subjects and learning styles as they begin to consider their next steps.
As part of our wider Post-16 guidance programme, all Year 11 pupils also participated in Applicants Morning, designed to support them in making informed choices about their future pathways. During the morning, pupils were divided into four groups and took part in a variety of activities, including a visit to Barnet and Southgate College, an apprenticeships and college applications session, guidance on Post-16 choices and study skills, and further Sixth Form and A-level taster sessions.
We hope these experiences have helped Year 11 pupils feel confident and well informed as they plan for their Post-16 education, and we look forward to welcoming many of them into our Sixth Form in September.
