Updates for the Parents/Carers of Christ’s College Finchley
Dear families,
With the events across the globe continuing to highlight the importance of learning from the past, this week’s Holocaust Memorial Day, with the theme of Bridging Generations to ensure the lessons of the past are carried forward, is more important than ever. I would like to thank Ms Subramoney who organised for Noreen Plen to speak to Year 9 on Wednesday morning as part of our recognition of Holocaust Memorial Day. Noreen spoke about her parents, Jan and Lola, who were Polish Jews who endured the horrors of the Holocaust and survived, and Noreen’s story of their courage and survival helps to remind our pupils that there is more that unites us than divides us and the importance of learning from the past to work together for a better future.
This week we have hosted a number of transition events. On Wednesday, Year 11 pupils took part in a post-16 morning where they either spent the morning in the Sixth Form or worked on post-16 applications and study skills. It was lovely to see the Year 11 pupils experiencing A-level content and preparing for their post-16 options. We are very proud of the year group and look forward to seeing their hard work pay off. This afternoon Year 13 students received their Year 13 mock examination results in a mock results event, opening that important envelope when there is still time to make changes, and we look forward to great things for the year group. We have also hosted visits from pupils from Brooklands, Holy Trinity and Martin this week. Pupils in Year 5 visited CCF to take part in Science, History, Music, RP, Maths and Art sessions as part of our transition links and have all enjoyed their experiences at CCF. Finally, the Year 9 options process has now begun and Year 9 pupils have received information in assembly about how the process will run with Year 9 options evening taking place on Tuesday 10 February 2026.
On Monday we practised our Shelter in Place drill and pupils were impressive with their maturity during the practice. It is vital that we practise our emergency procedures regularly and we will have fire and Shelter in Place drills termly. Should there ever be an emergency situation at the school, parents and carers will be notified as soon as possible and regular updates provided.
On Tuesday evening we held our Parent Voice meeting and I am grateful to the growing group of parents who support the school at these meetings. We discussed extracurricular clubs, assessment and homework. One area of discussion was how parents can help support with preparing for assessments and revising, and we will share more information in due course, including how parents can access the Elevate Parent portal. Should there be any areas or questions that you have and you are not able to attend Parent Voice, please do email info@ccfplus.com so that we can ensure we continue to work in partnership with you to best support your child.
Finally, I would like to wish you all a peaceful weekend.
Kind regards,
Dr Ruth Hill
