Part 1 Instructions - Slides

Problem Statement: 

You will need to research two inventions in your time period and how work was done prior to each invention and how it made lives easier once created.  Provide who (or group of people) who is known for having created each invention.  Also let your client know of one innovation to that invention so they know progress was being made during that time period.  As with all research, you will also need to provide your client with three references to confirm the validity of the invention information.  Make sure when you are making your presentation you use eye catching graphics, the text needs to be easily viewed, spelling and grammar is correct, and you use persuasive language so that your client books the trip to your time period.

Requirements: 

• Google Slides:

  • Presentation must have a design applied

  • Pictures must be on each slide

  • Make sure we can read the font and that the slides follow the examples given in class

  • DO NOT copy directly from websites the text used on the slides

    • Put into your own summarized words

• Slide order:

  • Slide 1 = Title slide with your name and time period

  • Slide 2 = Invention #1 name, picture of it, how work was done prior to the invention, how it helped humans after the invention, the person/group cited as being the inventor

  • Slide 3 = Innovation to invention #1, picture of it, the change(s) from the previous version, what further improvements to humans’ lives did it make

  • Slide 4 = Invention #2 name, picture of it, how work was done prior to the invention, how it helped humans after the invention, the person/group cited as being the inventor

  • Slide 5 = Innovation to invention #2, picture of it, the change(s) from the previous version, what further improvements to humans’ lives did it make

  • Slide 6 = Thank you and Any questions

  • Slide 7 = citations with websites listed

Additional information regarding your presentation to your client will be coming from the parent company your travel agency works under, Travel Our Timeline Safely (T.O.T.S), which will cover information about pricing (aka rubric) and presentation method.  In the meantime, you will begin gathering all the research needed for the slides.

Part 2 Instructions - Video

Problem Statement: 

Now that you have become an expert on two inventions from your assigned time period, you now need to make a commercial that can be shown to clients to persuade them to book a travel package to your time period.  Based on what you researched, you will pick one of your inventions and its innovation to mention in your commercial.  You will create an Social Media advertisement video to make your commercial in Canva.  We will watch the videos in class and fill out evaluations while watching them.  Rubric for the video is included in Google Classroom.

Requirements: 

• Commercial is to be between 0:30-1:00 minutes

• Explain the invention and its innovation

  • Invention name, picture of it, how work was done prior to the invention, how it helped humans after the invention, the person/group cited as being the inventor

  • Innovation to invention, picture of it, the change(s) from the previous version, what further improvements to humans’ lives did it make

• Be creative

  • Can use infomercial style (ex. “But wait!....there’s more!”, “have we got a deal for you!”, “never traveled, well T.A.T.E.R. can take you back to the best time period when __________ was created”, etc.)
