Miniature Golf Course Project - Carnival Example
Tips:
Start off on the right track working from big picture to small details
Make sure you fully understand the criteria and constraints, and outline them in a concise manner to reference.
Don't only research the theme, but also how golf courses are laid out, what features are typically included, etc. How do others design courses.
Establish group norms early to standardize the process.
How are questions answered?
How do you organize your Onshape files?
Who is responsible for what common items?
How will holes flow from one hole to the next?
KEEP IT SIMPLE!!!
Miniature golf holes do not need to start complex. Get a basic design complete, and then add thematic aesthetics and features to enhance your design.
Key items to develop early:
Detailed course layout
Overall theme and how each hole relates to the theme
Hole assignment and order
Common part assignments
Project Instructions
Overview:
A local Mini-Golf company owns several locations in the nearby towns. Through the years they have seen a decline in the sales of their locations. Their courses are old and they believe that this is why their sales are decreasing. They have hired your group to completely overhaul their courses and add a theme to them to attract customers.
Problem Statement:
Your team must design a miniature golf course with a coherent theme across the entire course to attract new business.
Requirements:
Each team member must be responsible for ONE miniature golf hole
Each hole must include theming elements related to the overall courses theme
A registration house (Club house)
Must reflect the overall theme
The size of each hole design may not exceed 25’ by 20’
The holes may be elevated up to 5’ tall but any hole above 2’ must have safety precautions
Must have pathways leading from one hole to the next
These pathways must be at least 26 wide”
Holes may have moving parts (optional)
Hole layout should be flanked by constant wall/curb to keep the ball in play
Flow/Layout of the course must be consistent (The path made by completing the holes in order, which leads back to the registration house)
All holes will have standard golf cup, tee off pad (starting pad), and scoring podium at minimum
All modeling should be done to full scale (1:1)
A Team presentation
Cover page
Aerial view/Rendering of course
A registration house/Club house Rendering
Must have annotations explaining the details
Two slides for each hole
Overall hole rendering with color and perspective
Explanation with annotations explaining features and details. (use multiple views to fully showcase hole)
Course layout sketch
Explains the layout of the course and entry and exit of all holes
