Project Instructions
Overview:
Your team works for the company Roller Coasters Unlimited (RCU) and have recently won a bid to design and build a model roller coaster for a local amusement park. Due to budget constraints, your model will be limited to construction paper and scotch tape. Managements has the utmost faith you can create a great design to bring our company to the next level. Good luck!
Problem Statement:
Design and build a roller coaster model for a local theme park using only class provided materials.
Problem Description:
You must design a roller coaster in Onshape and produce a working model using construction paper and scotch tape as your only building material. You must work to keep costs down while providing the most exciting experience to future riders.
Tips:
Design/Build in small sub-assemblies, then test. Continue iterating/combining sub-assemblies to increase complexity.
Parts can be used in many ways, not just what they were originally designed to. Columns, Beams, Diagonal Supports, Shelves, and Brackets must be used as designed, but can be used in innovative, creative ways.
Keep the slope gentle. Faster marbles tend to fly off the track and make the roller coaster less reliable.
Keep in mind how you earn/lose points to get the highest score possible!
