The high school biology course is intended to further the student's explorations of the life sciences that began in grades K-8. Students will also be equipped with the essential competencies to excel in biology by emphasizing the recognition of patterns, mechanisms, and connections among living organisms. The learning foci encompass more theoretical ideas such as the interconnectedness of organisms, the correlation between matter, energy, and organization in living systems, the behavior of organisms, and biological evolution. Students explore biological concepts through engaging in labs utilizing the inquiry process.
