SYLLABUS:
In Psychology we will be covering a wide variety of topics in the field. This is an introductory course, which will highlight the necessary information for students to take the AP Exam for college credit, while gaining valuable insight into the human condition.
EXPECTATIONS:
1. Bring your notebook, pen or pencil to class everyday. We have notebook checks for grades. Have a dedicated notebook for this class.
2. Be seated and prepared for class when the tardy bell rings. Students should use the bathroom before class begins. If there are any medical issues just let me know.
3. Each student is expected to keep his or her work area straight and clean.
4. Each student is expected to concentrate on and work on Psychology while in the classroom.
GRADING:
1. Daily assignments will be in the form of vocab, questions, or note taking.
2. Class work assignments will be due during the class period in which they are assigned.
3. There will be special EBQ/FRQ essay assignments each chapter (all averaged for 1 grade)
4. Assessments (Tests) 60% and Assignments (everything else) 40%
MAKE UP POLICY:
It is the STUDENT’S RESPONSIBILITY to obtain assignments and make arrangements with the teacher to make up any missed assignments. Pack Pride time is a great time for this.
Students are expected to make up all assignments missed due to an excused absence within 5 days of returning to school. Waiting until the end of the 9 weeks is not acceptable.
Re-assessment / Re-Tests are provided for all TESTS within a certain time frame if requested (up to a 90). More details will be given in class on what to do to prepare for this and the format.
VIDEO:
We may watch some Psychology related movies / programs / documentaries in this class and everything comes from the school media center. Nothing will be rated R.
TECHNOLOGY:
New 2025-26 Policy Regarding cell phone use and ear buds / air pods:
· No earbuds/head phones in the classroom or anywhere in the school
· If a student asks to leave the classroom, they MUST leave their personal device/cell phone in the classroom.
· On assessment days students with their cell phones (and smart watches) will be referred to the office.
I will use Google classroom mostly to communicate with students on assignments. There is an assignment calendar that Google posts to my website for you to refer to as needed. It reflects everything I assign and post on Google classroom. It will also give all details for Re-Tests.
CLASS RULES:
No cell phones in class
No ear buds / air pods in class
