Through the use of robots, students will explore the fundamentals of problem solving, program design, algorithms and programming. Students will be designing, building, and programming robots while building problem-solving, organization, and team-building skills. This course is designed to focus on science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) concepts.
The course uses primarily the Tetrix based robot system available through Pitsco. Through this system students will learn autonomous based robots using Arduino, and radio controlled robotics, through simple coding and using gamepads to control the robots.
Students will be provided a robotics kit to use to build robots throughout the course. These kits will be required to be returned at the end of the course. Any missing items or items damaged beyond wear and tear will required to be replaced, or paid for at the cost of the replacement part.
This class is a full year course.
During the 2020-2021 school year, a weekly agenda will be provided to students and families can anticipate what lessons and assignments are upcoming. Due to the fluid nature of teaching, as well as the current learning environment, the agenda below may change as the week evolves. Any changes will be reflected on the agenda, as well as due dates in Google Classroom.
