So before we get into any humanitarian crises that are happening now, we need to look at what exactly it is.
A humanitarian crisis is when a singular event or a few events that are threatening in terms of health, safety or well being of a community or large group of people. It may be an internal or external conflict and usually occurs throughout a large land area. These crises can happen because of a lot of things including…
Famine (can happen because of drought, floods etc..)
War (armed conflicts)
Epidemics (diseases, like the plague in Europe and smallpox in the Americas)
Natural disasters (hurricanes, floods, volcanoes etc…)
These causes have to be caused, most of the time they are natural but how natural are they really when caused or made worse by man-made climate change, and how natural is it really when people are forced to live in areas where it is too dangerous to live. Other times though they are completely man-made, like wars and destroying of crops so people starve.
All these things can happen fast and in populated areas which leads to many dead or dying and this leaves them in need of humanitarian aid.
In situations out of our control, we all need help. This is especially so when help is restricted in cruel dictatorships and in war-stricken areas. In these cases, humanitarian aid is needed but it can’t reach its destination due to a lot of things. Take the crisis in Venezuela for example (click here if you not sure what that is) Maduro (the countries dictator) is blocking food aid getting into his country because history shows that doing this would destabilise his power over the country. This leaves millions of people in need of help. If we are fair though, foreign aid could destabilise the country if not done right. The USA has a long history of only doing things for its own good and not of the good of the people who need it so any help that does come from that country could be only for political power.
Anyway here are some organisations that are safe to donate to….
(I got these here. I checked them all out beforehand. I think they are especially good as they protect protesters who are defending their rights. All credit goes to Buzz feed. All I did was simplify the language. Also for pictures, sign up to my mailing list and your email will have pictures)

Animals are not excluded from the crisis that Venezuela is going through, with more and more pets abandoned each day. They also suffer from tear gas and bullets shot by the military forces.
The main mission of Santuario Luna is to help cats and dogs who live on the streets, provide them with veterinary care, feed and stabilize them, and try to find them a safe home that they can live in. If now home can be found, they're sheltered for life.
Any contribution (be it medicine, food, or pet products) are welcomed. They also have accounts with Banco Bicentenario and Bank of America.

Child malnutrition in Venezuela has reached alarming levels due to a combination of the shortage and high cost of food. Hospitals across the country reportedly receive between 10 to 15 malnourished children each day in emergency rooms and not all of them survive.
Sharing for Life helps children who are in critical health condition and need food.
