Animal species have been going extinct for ever since the beginning. Old animals went extinct because of new changes of climate or new animals driving them out. There has been 5 great extinctions and now we are facing the sixth, mostly because of our destructive behaviour towards our earth.
This is why I am making this. I feel bad for those animals and poor people are suffering while normal people and even some world leaders don't even accept what's happening! We can't let others suffer when there is so much you can do without it even affecting your life much at all!!! Please take into consideration that what you do will affect other people, making a decision like running rather than driving to work is good for you and everyone around you. Please try to make conscious decisions so you can make the world a better place. I have some tips for you.
And so on.......... There are lots of small things you can do to help the causes that matter
One major websites that preserve animals habitats are the WWF and the team there do amazing work that I would love for you to check out. If you're not convinced here's a video about what they do.
In my option, the most iconic animals to ever become extinct are the Dodo bird and the passenger pigeon as the tale of both their extinctions are really interesting. The Passenger pigeon especially.
The dodo has become the icon of man’s capability to irresponsibility exterminate a species.Despite going extinct from the island of Mauritius in 1662, the dodo has lived on in popular culture. It inspired characters in “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” and the Looney Tunes and even is featured in the idioms “dead as a dodo” and “to go the way of the dodo.” The dodo went extinct less than a century after being discovered due to indiscriminate hunting by sailors and the invasive species they introduced. It was almost considered a mythological creature but a few surviving specimens confirm its existence.
I think to give this bird the glory it deserves I think it would be good to watch this video to really understand the true amount of killing and destroying of habitat that went on......
These are animals that are already extinct, as dead as the Dodo, but learning about these creatures and how they died is very important when it comes to conservation efforts. We really need to learn from our mistakes and do our best not to repeat them. The thing is sometimes we don't learn from them and when I say sometimes I mean a lot. Though last year (2018) wasn't a big one for animal extinction, wikipedia quotes 'the current rate of global species going extinct is estimated as 100 to 1000 times "background" rates (the average extinction rates in the evolutionary time scale of planet Earth), while future rates are likely 10,000 times higher. However, some groups are going extinct much faster.' This basically means that animals are going extinct 100 to 1000 times faster! This extinction is due to other things we talk about on the website like pollution, climate change, waste and plastics and unclean farming
These two animals are very important to the eco-systems that support life. Like I said in my subpage how we change ecosystems, plants are the foundations of life and these animals support these plants and they are both endangered. The International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) quotes 'currently lists 24 bat species as Critically Endangered, meaning they face an imminent risk of extinction. Fifty-three others are Endangered, and 104 bat species are considered Vulnerable. '
As with bees, yes they are endangered, well at least some important ones. In Ireland of the 100 species of bee one-third are threatened with extinction. If this might not seem like a big deal then look at this quote from elitedaily 'Bees perform a task that is vital to the survival of agriculture: pollination. In fact, one third of our global food supply is pollinated by bees. Simply put, bees keep plants and crops alive. Without bees, humans wouldn't have very much to eat.' This is much the same with bats with www.bats.org quoting 'Bats play an important role in many environments around the world. Some plants depend partly or wholly on bats to pollinate their flowers or spread their seeds, while other bats also help control pests by eating insects.'
So these animals, no matter how important they are, are being threatened with extinction and we are definitely not doing enough to help but you can do your bit, here are some websites that you can check out....
Here's a few for bats
