September

Throughout the school year, students will continue to improve their keyboarding skills. We will review the importance of:

  • the home row - a s d f j k l ;

  • proper keyboarding posture

  • accuracy

  • WPM ( words per minute )

Students will use edutyping.com- see Mrs. Kunz if you need your password.

October - November

Students will learn the "Apps" available in their Google Drive - Docs, Slides, Sheets and Classroom. Also this month students will explore various online resources available though the Library - Worldbook Online, Brainpop, Tumblebooks, and PebbleGo.

December

During the month of December you will be be using Code.org’s Dance Party. This program is fun, collaborative, and creative! It’s designed to inspire students to continue learning how technology improves real world relationships, connections, and life.

You will learn:

  • basic computer programming

  • higher-order thinking, logic and multi-step problem solving

  • creativity and perseverance.

January and February

Happy New Year! During January and February we will continue learning CODING skills. We will be using Ozobots - tiny programmable robots to dive deeper into CODING.

March and April

Digital Citizenship

This month we will be exploring the topic of Digital Citizenship. We will use several resources from Common Sense Media to learn how to be responsible, respectful, and safe in the digital world. We will explore topics related to the pledge below.

Common Sense Media's Digital Citizenship Pledge:

  • Communicate kindly and responsibly with one another.

  • Protect our own and others' private information online.

  • Stand up to cyberbullying.

  • Respect each other's ideas and opinions.

  • Give proper credit when we use others' work.


May and June

Google Drawing

Students will use this program to design a character to represent one of the monthly character traits. and incorporate their design into a poster. Mrs. Kunz will use the posters next school year to introduce younger students to the monthly characters traits - respect, trustworthy, thankfulness, kindness, responsibility, honesty, perseverance, citizenship, cooperation, friendship.
