This is a Google Question Form with two videos to watch. You watch the videos first in order to answer the questions in the Google Form. The first video is information on the holiday Memorial Day that we will be celebrating next week. The second video is a performance by the pop group Five for Fighting. They are singing their pop tune "All for One" at the National Memorial Day Concert from 2017. Make sure you pay attention and watch the videos first BEFORE you try to answer the questions in the Google Form.
Here are the links to the videos:

Below is the Google Question Form to click on and answer the questions.
This is a worksheet. You will need a printer to be able to print this worksheet and work on it. Once you have finished the worksheet, take a picture of your completed worksheet and upload it to your Google Drive and share it to my Catskill Google Drive (mverdich) or email it to mverdich@catskillcsd.org.
Most of the questions on this worksheet are from things we learned back in 3rd grade. Try to remember how to letter name the line and space notes on the music staff. In 3rd grade we used my giant music rug with the giant music staff on it to learn how to remember the letter names of the notes. Try to think back to those days when doing this worksheet.
This is a chance to learn to properly draw the Treble G Clef symbol. You will need a printer to do this activity. You will print the music staff paper and then use it to follow the step by step directions in the direction page to draw your Treble G Clefs. Once you have drawn them on the music staff paper, take a picture of your completed paper and email it to mverdich@catskillcsd.org or upload it to your Google drive and share it to my Catskill Google Drive (mverdich).
The staff paper and the direction page are below. Have fun!

Don't forget to answer how this group is similar and how they are different from STOMP after you finish watching their performance.
Create your own music using sounds from your backyard. Open the Google Document below and follow the directions in the document.

Here are the questions:
1) Do you think these basketball players were making music with their basketballs?
2) Was there any part of the video that you would NOT consider music? Explain your answer.
3) Would this performance have sounded exactly the same if you could only listen to it and not actually see it? Would it still be the same music? Explain your answer.
3rd Activity Choice - Remember if you choose this activity you don't have to do any others this week in music. Only one activity each week is required :
Be a Drummer. If you like to tap and drum, this performance opportunity is for you. Click on the document "who's a Great Drummer" and follow the directions:
Directions:
1. Decorate two paper plates.
2. Hold the two paper plates together and tape, glue, or staple all around the edges. (leave a small section open to add what you will use to make the shaking sound.)
3. Add something to the inside of your tambourine to make a shaking sound such as small stones, rice, beans, or beads. Then finish closing the last edge.
4. Now you have a shaking tambourine that you can use to shake different rhythms with.
Have some fun with your tambourine. Create your own shaking rhythm pattern, or shake along to your favorite song. You can have someone make a video of you playing, or take a picture of your tambourine that you created, and email it to mverdich@catskillcsd.org.

2) Try the worksheet below, "Time Signature Cups." Remember what we learned in music class about a time signature in music. There are two numbers written like a fraction, one on top of the other, without a fraction bar in between. The top number is the one that identifies how many beats of counting will be in each measure (box) of music. The bottom number identifies what kind of rhythm symbol note will get one beat ,which then determines how many beats all the other rhythm symbol notes will get.
Directions: Pretend each cup in the worksheet is a measure of music. The total number of beats in the cup must equal the top number of the time signature you choose from the bottom of the page. You will use each time signature a bunch of times. Remember that rests (which make no sound) have to be counted as beats in the music. Have someone take a picture of your completed worksheet and email it to mverdich@catskillcsd.org so I can see your work.
