Cherrybrook Technology High School - Yr 9 and 10 Students research, design, budget and model a new playground area at the school. The technology teacher gives an interesting reflection on the benefit of team teaching when doing a STEM activity. A bonus is a lengthy interview with Maths guru Eddie Woo at his school.
St Stephen's Primary School - Yr 1 and 2 Students embrace and engage with many aspects of STEM - authentic and real world context (Endangered Animals), External providers and experts (inc. Zoos Victoria and engineering/Arts lecturer), Technology (Makey Makey's) and teachers who bring it all together to create great learning outcomes with terrific student engagement.
Walcha Central School - Yr 5 and 6 - The focus of their Years 5-6 STEM Illustration of practice was an integrated learning approach to a food and fibre production unit. Students investigated and designed materials for cladding of a greenhouse, built models and used micro:bits to test their designs by measuring temperature data inside and outside the greenhouse models. There was also use of spreadsheets to graph data and also flaps controlled by a servo motor to let air in when the temperature got too hot.
