"Hi! I am excited to join the CTE department here at SSHS this year. Teaching is a second career for me. After several years in Accounting, I began teaching middle school math in 2002. While in education, I've had the opportunity to work with amazing students and faculty at Newton Conover, Jacobs Fork, Arndt, Maiden, and River Bend Middle Schools.

My husband Shawn and I are the proud parents of four. Chelsea is a 2008 SSHS Alumna who coordinates the Live Better U Program for Walmart in Bentonville, AR. Faith is a 2011 SSHS Alumna who teaches math at West Hendersonville High School as well as CVCC and ASU. John is a Senior at the NC School of Math and Science and Elijah is a Sophomore at Maiden High.

Outside of school, I cheer for my boys at their athletic events and co-lead the youth group at my church."

After 34 years in Asheville, I am so excited to be moving back to the Hickory area and to St. Stephens High School. I graduated from Saint myself in 1983 and then received a BS degree in Business Administration from Appalachian State University. After an 11 year career in banking and 14 as a stay at home Mom, I decided to change paths and pursue a field I had always been passionate about. I joined Buncombe County Schools as an ISS Instructor 7 years ago and quickly knew Education was my perfect fit. I love working with students, especially those who need additional support, and recently earned my EC certification through NC Teachers of Tomorrow.

On a more personal level, I am excited to be getting married this summer and I have 2 adult daughters, Lauren (27) and Ashleigh (22) that I’m super proud of. I am very social and love to spend time with friends and family. I love summer, warm weather, and anything in the sun or near the water. I enjoy reading, running, working in the yard, watching college sports, and outdoor summer concerts.
