Grant Supports & Requirements
Finalists and Grant Winners are responsible for participating in all TXRL "Supports" and meeting the "Requirements" listed in the table and described below.
SUPPORTS
Annual Leadership Convening. TXRL leadership teams attend annual convenings to reflect on progress toward successful execution of the district TXRL Action Plan and build continued momentum for change.
Virtual Workshops. Workshops unlock for district and campus leaders how to leverage the TXRL Key Shifts and Strategies framework and shift mindsets, behaviors and structures to fully and effectively implement structured literacy.
Annual Showcase Visits. TXRL Grant Winners will host one showcase visit per year to demonstrate structured literacy in action. Showcase visits include an overview of the district and campus approach to structured literacy, classroom observations, and a question and answer session with educators.
Office Hours/ Consultation. TXRL Grant Winner teams participate in monthly strategic consulting virtual sessions to discuss structured literacy implementation progress and mitigate challenges.
REQUIREMENTS
Action Plan. TXRL Finalists will prepare an Action Plan to manage the complex systems shifts necessary to effectively implement structured literacy and achieve TXRL SMART Goals Districts will submit the plan in May 2025 for consideration of TXRL grant awards. Grant Winners will update the plan annually.
Smart Goal Cycle. TXRL Finalists and Grant Winners participate in a cycle of goal setting and reflection aimed at realizing the TXRL Cohort SMART Goal Targets. In January and June of each year, district and campus leaders will enter assessment results into a TXRL SMART Goal template, analyze progress and prepare written reflections. Districts manage a parallel process with elementary campuses.
Annual Educator Survey Administration. TXRL Grant Winners will administer annual surveys to teachers, school leaders and district leaders to measure shifts in educators’ perceptions and instructional practices related to TXRL. Results will be made available to inform continuous improvement of structured learning implementation.
Annual Funder Meeting / Progress Update. Representatives from Moody Foundation, Charles Butt Foundation and CA Group will meet with each TXRL Grant Winner annually to discuss progress toward implementing structured literacy across all K-3 classrooms. Districts will also document the number of students, teachers and campus directly impacted by TXRL participation.
Grant Funds Distribution Process. Each spring, TXRL Grant Winners will request a portion of the $250,000 grant award for the upcoming fiscal year using a TXRL Grant Request form which will be provided. Districts will also be required to provide documentation and an explanation of actual expenditures at the end of each year. Grant funds will be distributed in August 2025 and August 2026.
