ORIGIN OF THE LANGUAGE
French history goes back to the years 51 and 58 with the invasion of The Roman Empire in the territory of Gaul, by forbiding their language and imposing theirs, but some territories resisted, for exemple Brittany and the south-west of France. The Roman Empire eventually fell, and the country was invaded by the Huns, the Franks (meaning free in French) and the Visigoths, leading to a wide variety of dialects.
At present, there are about 75 regional languages in the country, these are taught at schools, and one of the most famous is breton.
It is known that French comes from Latin, although during its years of existence the language has varied.
