Room 16

Haere mai, welcome to Room 16 2023

Kia ora koutou

Ko Sarah Littler tōku ingoa. I’m Sarah and I’m super excited about another year of teaching and learning at Cashmere Avenue School community.

I grew up in Johnsonville under the Tarikaka / Kaukau maunga so it’s an honour to continue my teaching career in the Northern Suburbs community. After finishing school I went to Otago University and completed a double degree in Physical Education and Commerce. I worked as an IT Senior Business Analyst for Fonterra and the Ministry of Social Development before retraining to be a primary school teacher in 2011. I started my teaching career at Eastern Hutt School in Lower Hutt where I taught Years 4-6.

I’m passionate about all things sport, particularly Netball where I’m currently involved in coaching and assessing umpires towards their New Zealand Badge. I love cycling and one of my goals is to ride all of the Great Rides Trails across Aotearoa. So far I have ticked off the Alps 2 Ocean, Queen Charlotte, Otago Rail Trail and the Pou Herenga - Twin Coast Cycle trails.

Feel free to email me if you have any questions or concerns (s.littler@cashmere-ave.school.nz). You will also receive an invitation to join Room 16 on Seesaw where we will share our learning and use the messaging for reminders and other communication. Whānau are welcome to come in and see me in the morning before school starts or we can arrange to meet after school on days we don't have meetings.

Kristie Marks will be teaching in Room 16 on Thursdays while I'm acting Assistant Principal for the Senior Syndicate. I'm also looking forward to having a student teacher, Max Tan, in Room 16 every Monday and Tuesday throughout the year. Max is completing the one year Masters of Teaching and Learning programme at Victoria University. He will have some longer placement blocks of 4-8 weeks to observe and teach with my support and guidance.

I’m looking forward to working with you to support your child’s learning this year.

Ngā mihi hui
