Our vision for your child
This is our CORE purpose whilst your child is in the Middles
To develop and use a growth mindset to help us take risks and be more resilient.
To build positive relationships.
To feel success and have positive self-esteem.
To make positive choices and decisions about managing self.
To take responsibility for their learning, talk about it confidently and reflect on their progress.
To use critical and creative thinking to solve problems, be inquisitive and curious
We do this by encouraging them to be more resilient and take greater ownership of their learning, which we as teachers call 'agency'.
Transitioning from the Juniors to the Middles can be a big change for your child, which is why we love composites so much. For some children it can take a whole term. Please let us know if you child is still needing additional support, as we are all about empowering our learners.
Having the older children in each classroom helps the younger children to understand what 'Being a Middle' looks like. As the Year 4 children already know what is expected of them, they can model these expectations to the younger students.
This also encourages the tuakana- teina relationship, which allows the older children to contribute back to their learning community.
