Room 10

Kia ora Rūma Tekau whānau!

Welcome to Term 4! I cannot believe we are nearing the end of 2023. We have an exciting term ahead of us: Athletics Day, Book Character Day, Maraeroa Marae trip, disco... just to name a few things. That being said, this can be an emotional time of year for some of us so we will focus on showing manaakitanga in and outside of the classroom. I look forward to making the most of these next 10 weeks!

Remember to wear sun hats as it is a sunny term (hopefully!)☀️

Please have a read through the following information. Also, feel free to contact me if you have any questions or things you would like to discuss.

On Friday in Week 1 we will be having an innovation day. The purpose of the day is for tamariki to inquire into an interest,  passion, or skill that they have. Tamariki need to decide what they would like to focus on by Wednesday Week 1. We will talk about it in class on Monday, and students can work in groups if they have a similar interest. Some ideas that might spark an interest... famous artists, insects, how cars work, planets, the SPCA, fitness, geography etc.

Release

As a beginning teacher, I have release every Tuesday where Susan Armitage will step in for me.

Library

Our library day is Tuesday each week. Please remind your child to have their library books in their school bag ready to be returned. They may take 3 books out at a time, which can be out for 2 weeks.

Athletics

For PE we have been practising our throwing, jumping, and of course running. In Week 2 we have our school Athletics Day. This is a fun day for celebrating participation and encouraging each other. I'm very proud to say we have a number of great runners in Room 10, so we may have to hold try-outs for our class relay team for the sake of fairness. I hope I can live up to expectations in the teacher relay! 😄

Homework

It would be really helpful if students could bring their homework books to class on Fridays to be checked. Homework will then be sent home on Mondays.

Please don’t feel shy to get in touch, I want to do everything I can to ensure your child feels well supported.

Here’s to a wonderful Term 4!
