DIRECTOR'S ASSISTANTS

 REGISTER TO BE A CAMP COUNSELOR aka a D.A. 

  Earn Volunteer Hours & Have Fun!  

If you are at least a rising sophomore in high school and ideally have one year of theatre experience, you are eligible to apply to be a camp counselor in the Director's Assistant (D.A.) program. 

This program is tuition-free, allowing you to earn volunteer hours. You must be available for all days of camp, the performances, and load-out/strike to acquire service hours. 

• Develop & learn new skills on or off the stage!

• Earn service/volunteer hours at camp!* If doing July camp earn up to 100 hours!

• Have fun with new and old friends each summer!

  Overview  

As a D.A. you can focus on certain aspects of the show or learn wide set of skills. They each handle multiple responsibilities and learn new skills. Some areas you may help in are: 

• Backstage - during the show moving set pieces, preparing props, calling the show as a stage manager, etc

• Lights - run light board, program lights, run spot light, etc 

• Sound - run sound board

• Props - help create props list, manage prop tables, build and find props, etc.

• Set - decorate set, possibly paint, etc.

• Fly - operating fly during show (must have prior training)

• Projection - running the projection during rehearsals and show

• Mics - managing who gets mics, help putting them on, making sure they have new batteries, etc. 

• Dance Captain(s) - help choreographer with dances.

• Costumes - organizing, sewing, helping with quick changes, painting/hot gluing on costumes, work on mood boards, etc

• Hair & Makeup - assist with hair and makeup for campers, work on mood boards, etc.

• DA Buddies - D.A. Buddies are leaders assigned to a group of campers and travel with their group throughout the day during all activity rotations and may help run lines or review music or dances and oversee fun team building activities. DA Buddies are mostly for the first week of camp and during the second week will transition to a role helping with the performance.
