2023 Growing Success for MLs Summer Conference - Free event!

An October 13th press release shared that “The N.C. Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) and North Carolina Collaboratory are leading a joint $6.73 million effort to spur research on the impact of COVID-19 on student learning in the state, with the goal of helping educators and students recover from pandemic-related disruptions and lost instructional time."

One of the 20, 2-year grants, Strategies and Innovations for Multilingual Learner Success, will explore strategies and innovations that contribute to multilingual learners’ academic achievement to inform multilingual learner-focused policies across North Carolina. Dr. Ye (Jane) He, UNC Greensboro, will collaborate with NCDPI ML/Title III staff on this research. Performance reports will be submitted annually and the results of the research will be shared in December 2024.

Multilingual-Multimodal Science Inventory (M2-Si) Grant Update

The M2-Si grant technical working group is creating a high-quality, innovative, and authentic e-portfolio that draws from multiple modalities and allows students, especially multilingual learners (ML), to use their full linguistic repertoire to demonstrate their science knowledge. We are honored to have so many amazing experts and educators collaborate on this groundbreaking work. In addition to the Center for Applied Linguistics (CAL), technical working group members from across the country have joined the work.

Do you recognize anyone in the picture? Explore the M2-Si Team list to see who is involved. Recruitment of districts to participate in the work is winding down, but it’s not too late to complete the survey to let us know you are interested!
