Alexa Skelly attended Mitchell Community College in her hometown of Statesville, North Carolina then transferred to the University of North Carolina at Wilmington where she earned a Bachelor of Music Degree in Music Education with a concentration in vocal studies. While at UNCW, Mrs. Skelly traveled abroad to St. Pӧlten and Vienna, Austria multiple times to attend the Laudate Dominum Choral Workshop held annually. Also at UNCW, Mrs. Skelly was honored to perform at two of the Music Department's Honors Recitals in Beckwith Hall. 

Mrs. Skelly is now on her ninth year of teaching. She has taken her students to perform in the Wilmington community, Music Performance Adjudications, Music in the Parks Competitions, NCAIS Honors Chorus and the North Carolina State Honors Chorus. Mrs. Skelly is a member of the North Carolina Music Educator's Association and regularly attends the Professional Development Conference held annually in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Skelly still values and enjoys being a performer herself as an alto in Wilmington Voices professional choir.
