Description:
The Vocal Ensemble is a performing choral group open to upper school students who have a passion for singing. Students will improve their vocal technique and their confidence singing in front of others while performing a variety of different styles of music. Mandatory performances throughout the year include the National Anthem at Opening Assembly, the annual Holiday Concert, Cabaret Night, Music Performance Adjudication, the annual Spring Concert, and Commencement.
Students take one year of on-level vocal ensemble prior to honors enrollment.
Year Long course – 1.00 credit
Students Will Be Able To:
Use correct posture and breathing technique while singing
Sight-read advanced vocal music in different keys using solfege and pitch names
Notate music using ear training skills including intervals and rhythm patterns
Sing in 4-8 part a cappella harmony with confidence
Perform using concert etiquette
Sing a varied repertoire of music
Sing in different languages (i.e.Italian, German, French, Latin, Spanish)
GOALS:
Create an atmosphere of support, trust, and friendship
Perform comfortably as a choral ensemble
Develop life-long learners in music
Gain confidence in solo, duet, and full group singing
