Just For Fun

Welcome to the "Just For Fun" page. Enjoy!

"Mahna Mahna"

This Muppets song is a great example of “scat singing,” which is a technique used in jazz music. It is when the singer improvises using nonsense syllables or no words at all. The singer uses their voice like an instrument instead of as a speaking tool.

"I'll Think of You When I'm Gone" - This is a really neat example of body percussion in a song.

MusicPlayOnline - Includes "Oops" and "Poison" Melody"

Remember the solfege echo games we played recently in class where it would say "oops" if we sang the "poison melody?" Below is a link to that site. MusicplayOnline is offering free access using the username “snow” and password “2020” through July! This is a great resource filled with games, listening examples, mini-lessons and more. Activities are separated into grade-level pages (PK-6!) or by category!

To find the game we played, go to the left side menu and click on "Solfa Practice." To practice, choose "Echo Sing." To play the game, choose "Poison Melody." There are also many other fun games on this site. I encourage you to check them out!
