Welcome to Canadian International School of Thailand Community Project site.
The International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IB MYP) Community Project is a culminating project for the MYP. It is where Grade 10 students can show off how they have developed as learners.
This is a challenging project, which students should dedicate significant time and attention to.
The Community Project is a year-long service learning project for all students in Grade 10. Students will follow an organized path of learning that requires them to:
identify and then research a need in the community
plan and then perfom a significant and sustainable service action
reflect on their learning and the impact their actions have had on the community
present their work to peers, staff and parents in a Community Project Exhibition
In the About section you will find all kinds of information about the project; what is required, and how you will be assessed.
In the Guide section, there are Google Slide presentations that will guide you through the process step-by-step.
There are also lots of useful resources in the Resources section. If you need extra assistance, contact your Community Project supervisor.
CIST students have been building towards the MYP Community Project by engaging in service learning projects in Grades 7 to 9.
To find out more about the Service as Action program, check out the Service as Action Handbook.
Students offered translation services to small businesses in the local district.
Students organized and led activities for younger students in the school.
Students planted mangroves in a local village susceptible to coastal erosion.
