"MYP projects are culminating activities through which students present, in a truly personal way, their development of ATL skills."
(IBO Projects Guide 2014, p 22)
ATL skills form the foundation for learning to work independently and in groups, conducting valuable research; and demonstrating and reflecting upon your learning. Ultimately, these are the transferable skills which can be utilized in any subject area, as well as in your everyday interactions as a local and global citizen.
The Approaches to Learning include:
Communication skills
Social skills
Self-Management skills
Research skills
Thinking Skills.
During the process of completing the project, you need to:
regularly reflect on the ATL skills used to complete that specific portion of work
document the skills you develop, struggle with and regularly use
state specifically which skills were used and how.
add your ATL reflections to your process journal
The IB Breaks down skills into skill indicators - this makes them easier to talk about. Have a look at the different tabs in this ATL Spreadsheet, and you will see that you are already using many of these skills. Make sure to for your project, in your process journal.
