"Global contexts direct learning towards independent and shared inquiry into our common humanity and shared guardianship of the planet."
(IBO Projects Guide 2014, p 20)
Students need to identify a focus for their project. To do this, they will:
identify a goal to address a need in the community
identify the global context
develop a proposal for action
The global context, chosen by you, provides a context for your inquiry. This is something which will help you make connections between your project and bigger isssues, and explain why it matters.
The table below shows examples of global contexts corresponding to the elements of the community project.
You should choose only one global context to define your goal. Look at your chosen Global Context's description and explorations - can you use words from these in your learning goal?
