Our house procedures are designed to allow a productive and happy shared home. Curfews are set for your safety, and quiet hours are set to allow time to get your work done.
Dorm parents will do their best to make sure that you feel at home and cared for. Together we will build a culture of mutual respect and support.
For your part, please stay safe and productive by following the dorm regulations. We want everyone to have a happy space to learn and thrive.
7:30-8:25 - Breakfast - Breakfast is served in the dining area. You may eat when you wish, but you are not allowed to take food out of the dining room.
8:25 - House Closure - The doors are locked and students do not have access to their rooms until the school ends.
8:30 - School Hours - School starts, typically, with a morning advisory.
15:25 - After School Hours - The house doors are opened at 15:25 every school day, except Wednesdays (14:25).
18:00-19:00 - Dinner - Meals are served in the dining area. On every school night (Sunday-Thursday), you must be at the dining hall for the 18:15 daily announcement. (You should not schedule tutoring sessions that overlap with the announcement time.)
19:00-21:00 - Quiet Hours - On school nights (Sunday through Thursday), a two-hour period is reserved for studying or quiet time on your own. During these quiet hours, you may study in your own rooms or work on group projects in the main lounge. You may not visit other rooms.
21:00-22:00 - Free Time - You can take a walk or make your final run to the combini to grab a snack.
22:00-7:00 - School Night Quiet Hours - The houses will be locked up by the dorm parents on duty. You may talk to your roommates or housemates in the house lounge (in a low voice), but you may not visit other rooms.
Our goal is to develop a culture of mutual respect and responsibility.

Salmon pasta and roasted chicken. There is something for everyone.

All prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) medication is collected, stored and tracked by the dorm head. Dorm parents will disburse medications as required.
A nurse is on call for illnesses, emergencies and doctor's visits. A dorm parent will talk to you to determine whether the nurse needs to be called. For example, if you have a high fever, we will call the nurse, but if you simply have a headache or upset stomach, then we will dispense OTC medication as needed.
The Rokko Island Hospital is located minutes away and dormies are often referred there for medical attention. In addition, there are physicians in private practice both on and off Rokko Island where you may obtain necessary medical attention.
Notes:
While it is the obligation of every staff of the dormitory to safeguard and keep student medical information confidential, the Dormitory Head must also balance matters of privacy and confidentiality with safeguarding the interests and well-being of the students.
Therefore, parents and students consent to allow the Dormitory Head to disclose information to those authorized employees of Canadian Academy, who have a need to know, the minimum amount of medical and/or psychological information necessary to serve the best interest of the student.
You are expected to maintain a clean and healthy living space. "Official" room checks will take place every Wednesday from 9:00pm. By this time you must have:
vacuumed
emptied the trash
tidied up your desk
tidied up the lounge and kitchen
washed and stored all dishes in the kitchen
While the official room checks are done on Wednesdays, you are expected to keep the common spaces, the lounge and kitchen, clean throughout the week. Any dorm parent may ask you to clean an area if it is getting too messy.
Visitors are not allowed in dorm houses. Parents may enter to assist with moving in or moving out, however at all other times parents must abide by the visitor policy. This is in line with our CA's Child Protection Policy.
