Sartorette and Fammatre Schools


GRADES TK, K, 1 (30 minutes classes)

We continue to work on the following concepts:  Sol and Mi, loud/soft, fast/slow, instruments of the orchestra, and identifying high and low pitches, and the four (4) voices:  Whisper, Talk, Shout and Sing.  These concepts are incorporated into our singing, moving and playing activities.


GRADE 2 (30 minute class)

We are learning about Dynamics (forte [loud] and piano [soft]) and Tempo, the speed of the beat.  These concepts are incorporated into our singing, moving and playing activities.  Students are also learning songs on the Orff Instrumentarium for our upcoming General Music Concert on April 30 at Fammatre and April 25 at Sartorette at 6:00 p.m. 


GRADE 3/4 (30 minute classes)

We are continuing to work on Recorder Karate belts. Rhythms used are: quarter, half, eighth, whole, dotted half notes and rests.  Most recently, we added tied notes.  Note names used are from the Treble Clef Staff: B, A, G, D, E and C', D'.  Please continue to encourage your child(ren) to practice their songs for our upcoming General Music Concert on April 30 at Fammatre and April 25 at Sartorette at 6:00 p.m.  Students will also be singing these songs and playing them on the Orff Instrumentarium.


GRADES 5 (45 minute classes)

Fifth grade classes are beginning their Ukulele Unit.  We will be focusing on tuning the ukulele, how to hold it, and learning our first notes.  Rhythms to be used are: quarter, half, eighth, whole notes and rests. First notes are:  C, D, E, F, and G.  First chords are:  C, F, and G7.  Students will also be singing these songs and playing them on the Orff Instrumentarium for our upcoming General Music Concert on April 30 at Fammatre and April 25 at Sartorette at 6:00 p.m.
