Empowering Today’s Learners to Become Tomorrow’s Leaders
This workshop is designed to help new web designers like yourself, learn the mechanics of code for creating simple to advanced web pages. While programs such as Dreamweaver make it very easy to create web content without being a code writing expert, understanding and knowing the 'ins and outs' of some basic code can help speed up the design process on many levels. So, before we start building sites with Dreamweaver, let's learn some basic code!
Your job is to start with first module below (HTML Basics) and go through it step by step. Each step is followed by a new instruction that ultimately leads you to the end of the module for the portion of the workshop that will be added to your 'Portfolio'. All of the instructions you complete prior to that portion of the module would be added to the 'Procedures' site or folder. Please understand that from the very beginning of the workshop, you should have a workshop folder saved on your computer that contains two separate parent folders; one named 'Portfolio' and one named 'Procedures'. Each of these folders is its own separate website. As you work through each module (there are four modules in total to be completed over the first 4 four weeks of this class), you will create content for the 'Procedures' site during the first series of step by step instructions and then, when you get to the end of the instructions in each module, you will be asked to create content for the 'Portfolio' site. For the Portfolio instructions, you will be given less detail as to how you should complete it because you just learned all of these skills in the Procedures portion of the module. Please pay attention to where and what you are saving within your folders. Throughout the workshop, it is crucial that you follow the instructions carefully for each module. This will make the process of completing the Web Workshop much easier. Good luck and have fun! Your completed Web Workshop folder containing both the completed Procedures site and the completed Portfolio site is due at the end of Week 4.
