VREP - Virtual Reality Education Pathfinder
This Independent Study course or class, it is conducted with instructors as an mentor, enabling students to explore topics of interest related to the Virtual Reality EducationPathfinder (VREP) program. This course serve as an opportunity for students to expand their expertise with the Blender software, to explore 3D animation, VR (Virtual Reality), 3D printing, programming and much more, in greater detail, or to develop more advanced skills related to the field of study. We can use this course to enrich or enhance other subjects or to help reteach or supplement task or projects in new ways that the student may comprehend.
Demonstrated creative thinking, construct knowledge, and develop innovative products and processes using technology.
Use digital media and environments to communicate and work collaboratively, including at a distance, to support individual learning and contribute to the learning of others.
Apply digital tools to gather, evaluate and use information.
Demonstrate critical thinking skills using appropriate tools and resources to plan and conduct research, manage projects, solve problems and make informed decisions.
Demonstrate a sound understanding of technology concepts, systems and operations.

Test Criteria
Create a figure. i.e... Gingerbread Man, Monkey Man, Frosty the Snow Man or something similar.
The figure must move (arms & legs to walk), add armatures.
You must animate the movement on a background (simple landscape, city scape etc.).
Proper placement of Camera(s) in a scene.
Incorporate particles (Falling debris)
Add Smoke to your scene
Apply Fluids to your scene
Export as a video file
Apply technology, math, science, and design concepts within the context of high-end 3D graphics and animation program.
Learn skills that can be transferable to a growing high-tech industry in Iowa, along with learning more about specific business and industries that utilize 3D / Virtual reality.
Complete 3D and/or VR projects that have personal and educational relevance/ importance to effectively demonstrate 21st century and related technology skills

For those schools wanting to start developing their course based on competencies here are some basics we were able to put together. These are competencies will benefit all career areas.
Full understanding of 3D space; Rough understanding of recording and displaying stereoscopic displays; Basic ability to model and navigate in Blender 3D
Extended understanding and ability to render Stereo; Basic understanding of Armature, and Particle systems; Basic understanding of Game Engine
Full understanding of Armatures and Particle systems; Full understanding of Game Engine; Basic understanding of Python
Full understanding of Python; Basic understanding of C or Java
To complete 3D and/or VR projects that have personal and educational relevance/ importance to effectively demonstrate 21st Century and related technology skills, specifically:
