Empowering Today’s Learners to Become Tomorrow’s Leaders
As Designers and Engineers, we sometimes receive files from clients that cannot be read by Solidworks.
An example is an JPG, PNG, EPS (Encapsulated Postscript Vector graphics) (Adobe Illustrator) file for their company logo.
We could manually re sketch it to create their logo, however there is an easier way.
We first have to convert the image file to SVG or Scalable Vector Graphics.
We will use an online converter, follow the link below to convert to svg.
Use this online converter https://image.online-convert.com/convert-to-svg
Once you have the SVG file, we need to convert that into a format that SolidWorks can use. That format is a DXF or Drawing eXchange Format.
We will also use a different online converter to complete that operation. Follow the link below to complete
Use this converter at https://cloudconvert.com/svg-to-dxf
Tip: Google search SVG type images to skip first conversion step.
Another method of creating a logo from a image is just tracing with the different sketch tools or AutoTrace.
