Dequn Teng's doctoral research at the Institute for Manufacturing examines human-algorithm interaction in high-stakes evaluative settings. While their empirical setting is algorithmic trading rather than language assessment, the underlying questions about the division of interpretive authority between humans and AI systems, the conditions under which humans retain meaningful oversight, and the design choices that shape this relationship are directly relevant to the themes of the symposium.
