Abstract: This poster presents a mixed-methods project examining how Generative AI mediates Arabic writing assessment in higher education. When AI-generated text appears fluent, product-only assessment risks misreading tool output as learner competence — the "fluency illusion." The study compares three AI-robust assessment models and centres Arabic diglossia (MSA ↔ ʿāmmiyya) as a validity construct absent from existing frameworks. It aligns with the symposium theme by foregrounding learner epistemic agency: the capacity to explain and direct one's own writing decisions in an AI-supported environment.
