Audition signups will always be located on the theatre board outside of the Peter V. DeLille Fine Arts Center in North Campus. All scripts are available upon request for viewing by both students and parents. Email bauerk@calschools.org to borrow a script.
You do not have to prepare anything beyond paperwork for this audition. Auditions will consist of readings of sections of the play. You are highly encouraged to read the play before your audition. Those interested in only crew roles do not need to sign up for a slot.

Before students can audition or sign up for any role, they must have a parent/guardian sign the CHS Players contract. Make sure to review the contract and let us know if you have any questions! Per CHS rules. We can NOT allow students to participate in our program without this contract on file.
While we do not require that you have a resume, it is a good skill to learn! They are also super helpful to the casting staff. Below is a video on how to make a resume for theatre! There is a correct format! If you make a resume, just staple it to your audition form.
We will hold auditions for Willy Wonka December 3rd - 5th. Stay tuned for more information.
Fall plays are annual, non-musical, full-length productions that take place in the fall semester. These include opportunities for actors, backstage help, and tech. Auditions are normally in September.
Spring Musicals are annual, musical, full-length productions that take place in the spring semester. These include opportunities for actors, singers, dancers, backstage help, musicians, and tech. Auditions are normally in December.
A Note on Casting: Due to the contracts that give us rights to perform certain scripts, there will almost always be some characters that MUST present as a certain gender. In other words, we are not free to "gender-bend" certain characters as this would be a legal violation of our contracts. However, when we are not bound by contract to present a character as a particular gender, we will make all casting choices based on who gives the best audition regardless of who you are. We firmly feel that equal opportunities should be given to all actors! Be sure to ask the director if you have questions about which characters we can be flexible with and any available pants roles.
Pants Role: A role in which the character is male (is dressed as male and all characters use he/him to reference the character), but the actress is female. If this is done for a musical, the key of music is shifted for the actress. These sorts of roles are allowed by most contracts and allow us to expand offerings to our female students.
