Computing is of enormous importance to the economy, and the role of Computer Science as a discipline itself and as an underpinning subject across science and engineering is growing rapidly.
The course will give learners a real, in-depth understanding of how computer technology works. The course will give you an insight into what goes on ‘behind the scenes’, including computer programming, which many learners find absorbing.
There are two paper-based external examinations:
Paper 1: Computer Systems
Paper 2: Computational Thinking, Algorithms and Programming.
A wide range of subject content will be covered during two years of teaching - learning all about computer systems and how they work, including; Components of a Computer System, Computer Networks, Algorithms, and Data Representation (e.g. Binary, Images, Sound). In addition, students will also be taught skills in programming using the ‘Python’ language in preparation for the exam.
