CA Parent and Youth Helpline (FREE RESOURCE)
Dear CAVA Families,
We hope you are all healthy and safe. We are happy to share resources and services that are available in case you have a need in any of the following areas.
If you are struggling with academics and need help figuring out how to catch up on missing assignments, how to balance school and tasks at home, or you are just not sure how to get started with a plan, contact your homeroom teacher to request academic support or request a referral to FAST (Family Academic Support Team).
If you find yourself feeling stressed, panicked, depressed, or scared, you are always welcome to contact your Guidance Counselor or Freshman Support Specialist to talk and receive support. You can also request a referral to FAST for social/ emotional support and you will be connected with a team member to help you find resources to support your needs.
If your family is struggling to pay for the cost of internet service or you are not able to access free wi-fi/ internet locations you would typically use at libraries and other public locations due to closures, check out one of these options below. If you are interested in one of these programs and need proof of Free/ Reduces Lunch status, please make sure the Back to School Packet has been completed and then contact your homeroom teacher for the proof of eligibility form.
Additionally, many internet and cell service companies (including as Internet Essentials) have announced expansions of services and reduction in costs for families in states and counties that are being impacted by school closures. Please reach out to your service providers for additional information on what might be available.
Internet Essentials from Comcast offers home Internet service for only $9.95 a month for students who qualify for Free/Reduced Lunch.
Everyone On.org National non-profit working to connect low-income families with affordable internet options.
human-I-T Connect Non-profit partnership connecting low-income households with internet service providers
If you are having a tough time keeping up with meal preparation, please check to see if there is a location near you offering free meals to children (1 year - 18 years). Many of these are school sites and they are providing meals to any child (you do not need to be enrolled in that school or district and no ID needed). They will be offering a grab and go lunch and breakfast for the next morning every weekday for the next few weeks.
